Eurobin Scale, a scale for the food industry from Thai Mectech

In Thailand's intensely competitive food industry, an operator who can bring modern technology into their own plant does more than raise the production process to the point where it creates food products of standard-conforming quality that serve customers well — it becomes a decisive factor in beating business rivals outright.

One solution that can raise an industrial plant's production process is the trolley weighing scale, or Euro Bin Scale, manufactured, developed and petty-patented by Thai Mectech — an e-F@ctory Alliance partner, a specialist in food industry machinery, and a business engaged in designing machinery and conveying systems for plants of many kinds — combined with advanced technology from Mitsubishi Electric, which helps make this equipment work to an exceptional standard.

What does the Euro Bin Scale look like, and what are its purpose, features and working process? Today we will take everyone through the Euro Bin Scale in more detail.

Using the Euro Bin Scale, and what it looks like

The Euro Bin Scale is a weighing scale suited to industrial plants generally, and particularly to food plants that need a weighing step for goods or raw materials so that food products can be made to the specified recipe, precisely and without deviation.

In form, the Euro Bin Scale is a trolley with an arm extending out to carry the weighing bin. It handles loads of up to 300 kilograms and is fitted with wheels for easy movement, making it suitable for use on production lines across a range of industries.

The Euro Bin Scale also carries advanced data communication technology, controlled by a Mitsubishi Electric PLC, with display and control through an HMI (GOT2000) touch screen whose various systems are designed to be as easy to use as possible — uncomplicated, with values that read clearly and accurately.

At the same time, the Euro Bin Scale stands out for storing data efficiently — the recorded weight of the bin, the recorded weight of the goods or raw material, and the type of product being weighed — and it can export that data for display as a dashboard through GENESIS64 software, where it can be put to a great many uses. This storage and export capability is the key function that has led leading industrial plants across the country to purchase the Euro Bin Scale.

Basic operating instructions

The basic steps for operating the Euro Bin Scale are as follows

1. Wheel the bin to be weighed into the Euro Bin Scale unit 2. Go to the Menu register page to enter the details of the bin to be weighed, in two forms - Register Bin — the mode in which the unit learns each individual bin and remembers that bin's weight - Register Product — the mode in which the unit learns each type of product or raw material held in that bin 3. Begin registration by entering the bin number, for example A01, and press to weigh. Once the unit has finished weighing, press the Register button to import the data into the unit's memory; settings can be deleted or edited as required. Note that if there are 100 bins in total, all 100 must be registered, because each bin has a different weight 4. After registration is complete, the user can wheel a bin containing goods to the unit, go to the Home page, then select the required Product and Bin and press to weigh. The weight displayed is the value after deducting the bin weight already registered — meaning the unit shows only the weight of the goods or raw material itself 5. Once weighing is pressed, the unit sends the data to the History window, from which the user can export the data as a CSV file for further use
