OPC UA server unit

The OPC UA server unit is an embedded version OPC UA server that can be installed in the MELSEC iQ-R series base unit. By using the OPC UA server unit, the OPC UA server can be embedded in the device, and a robust system that replaces the PC-based OPC UA server can be built. OPC UA (Unified Architecture) is a platform-independent communication standard established by the OPC Foundation in the United States, which enables secure and reliable data communication between the manufacturing level and higher IT systems.

By using the OPC UA server unit, you can improve reliability by eliminating the need for a PC-based OPC UA server that poses a high security risk such as virus infection. In addition, it has a longer service life than PCs and requires less maintenance, so system costs can be reduced. The data to be disclosed to the outside can be saved and managed in the device by the tag name and the hierarchical structure, and you can easily refer to the necessary data when constructing the host system.

With the dedicated setting tool MX OPC UA Module Configurator-R, intuitive operation is possible due to the wizard type and selection type setting screens. By importing the GX Works3 project, the PLC CPU label can be used as it is as an OPC UA tag.

The OPC UA server unit can optionally set OPC UA security functions such as certificates, encryption, and signature according to the needs of the system. In addition, since it has two Ethernet ports, it can enhance security by separating the IT and FA networks.
